Food, Fashion, & Philanthropy
What happens when some talented women get together?
They inspire, delight and raise money for a good cause. Join us for lunch on Saturday, September 25 where the Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern will host Food, Fashion and Philanthropy. The event will benefit the Dedham based non-profit Hope in Bloom, which plants gardens free of charge at the home of breast cancer patients in Massachusetts
The afternoon will feature a 3-course lunch prepared by Chef Bob Calderone followed by an exclusive fashion show presented by Liz Nill of Shibui Designs in Barnstable Village. Shibui Designs creates handmade clothing for women seeking age appropriate elegance in classic styling. Nill's designs have been heralded in Money Magazine, the Boston Globe, Cape Cod Magazine and numerous blogs. Nothing completes an outfit like a one-of-a-kind hat by Harwich's own milliner, Deborah Harper. Her chapeaux have graced the pages of Elle, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and the Cape Cod Times.
Hope In bloom was created in 2007 by Roberta Dehman Hershon after she lost a childhood friend and fellow gardener to breast cancer. To date the organization has planted 84 gardens throughout the state. Three will be installed in Duxbury, Harwich and Barnstable in the weeks leading up to this event. Volunteer planters can sign up on the Hope in Bloom Website.
